What do Wallsend's older streets and newer homes need?

The name comes from the coal town at the end of Hadrian's defensive wall, east of Newcastle upon Tyne, and the colliery opened in January 1861. The coal was of very good quality and the township prospered; Wallsend became its own municipality in 1874 and had rejoined Plattsburg by 1915. The railway goods shed in Cowper Street is heritage-listed.

It is a big suburb, with 5,764 private dwellings in 2021: 77.7% of the occupied ones were separate houses, 16.9% townhouses or semi-detached and 4.8% flats. Roofs are cleaned with a soft wash; paths, patios and driveways get pressure washing set to suit each material.
