Which driveways, paths and outdoor surfaces can be cleaned?

How is a surface cleaned without damaging it?
Central Coast Soft Wash treats outdoor surfaces in three steps. A biocide solution goes on at about 70 psi to kill the moss, mould and algae. The surface is then rinsed at low, medium or high pressure depending on what it can take. Masonry, concrete and stone finish with a follow-up treatment.
High pressure is used only where it suits the surface. The team designs and builds its own surface cleaning equipment, and before any work starts it moistens plants near the work area and covers delicate plants where needed. Pavers, stone, concrete and tile are all covered by the Zero Damage Guarantee.

Where does the wash water go?
Wash water must not run into the stormwater system. Under the NSW Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, placing matter where it will wash into a gutter or drain built to carry rainwater counts as polluting waters, and the NSW EPA says runoff from any kind of washing activity must not enter stormwater drains.
On the Central Coast that stormwater flows untreated into creeks, Brisbane Water, Tuggerah Lakes, the coastal lagoons around Terrigal and Avoca and the sea. Central Coast Council advises against swimming at lagoon, lake and estuary sites for up to three days after rain because stormwater pollution affects them.
The process relies on controls and containment and on keeping the volume of chemical down. If your driveway falls towards the street, mention it in the quote request so the runoff can be planned for.

Does pressure cleaning remove oil stains?
Oil and grease are not living growth, so they need a different treatment from moss and mould. It is discussed and quoted before any work starts; mention the stains in the quote request.
How often should driveways and paths be cleaned?
The team recommends cleaning outdoor hard surfaces once a year. Shaded paths, pool surrounds and anything under trees tend to go green sooner, and moss on steps and paths is a slip risk as well as a stain.
How long does pressure cleaning take?
Most pressure cleaning jobs take between one and four hours, depending on the area and the surface. You do not have to be home, as long as the team can reach the areas being cleaned and has been told about access.
Can pavers that have already shifted be cleaned?
Yes. Pavers and outdoor tiles bedded on sand are cleaned with a combination of soft washing and pressure washing, so the bedding sand and joints are not blasted out. If pavers have sunk or lifted, mention it in the quote request so they can be checked before work starts.
