What do Islington's homes between the railway and Throsby Creek need?

Maitland Road later became part of the Pacific Highway, and its handy position drew small factories alongside the houses. The Regent Theatre on the corner of Beaumont Street opened in 1928 and has traded as a hardware store since 1969, and the road is now known for antique shops. The Main Northern railway line runs along the whole south-eastern border.

The 2021 count found just over half the homes, 55.9%, were freestanding houses, with another 30.4% in semi-detached rows, terraces or townhouses. Road-facing walls are cleaned by a gentle house wash, and front paths and driveways by pressure washing set for the surface. Islington Park sits on Throsby Creek, and the NSW EPA says wash runoff must not go into stormwater drains, which carry it untreated into creeks such as this one.
