What do Valentine's lakefront cottages and newer family homes need?

The first holiday cottage went up in the late 1920s, when the only way in was by ferry from Speers Point, so most early houses stood on or near the foreshore along Dilkera Avenue, an Aboriginal word meaning by the shore. The road from Warners Bay to Belmont came through in the late 1930s, town water and power arrived in 1948, and large-scale building began in the late 1980s.

Separate houses made up 88.2% of occupied homes in 2021. Big roofs near the water stay damp and grow moss and lichen, which Monier says take hold where moisture and dirt gather, and a roof soft wash treats them without pressure on the tiles; walls and eaves take a house wash.
