What do Bateau Bay's 1960s to 1980s homes need?

Bateau Bay was declared a village in 1937, though it had long been called Boat Harbour, and The Entrance Road now runs straight through it. Both sides of that road have housing built in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, and at the 2021 Census 79.5% of occupied dwellings were separate houses. Homes of that era went up while asbestos cement sheeting was in common use, and SafeWork NSW says high-pressure water must never be used on asbestos, so old eaves and wall sheeting get a low-pressure house wash.

The southern 140 hectares of Wyrrabalong National Park lie inside the suburb, and Crackneck Point Lookout stands about 100 metres above the sea near Bateau Bay Beach. Roofs close to that bush collect leaf litter, and those near the beach take salt spray, so tiled and Colorbond roofs are cleaned with a roof soft wash. Central Coast Council's Water Wise Rules let roofs and walls be washed at any time with a high pressure, low volume cleaner.
