House washing and roof cleaning in Killingworth
In short: Killingworth, south of West Wallsend and east of the freeway, owes its start to coal mining from 1888, and many of its houses were built from timber cut at the colliery sawmill. Central Coast Soft Wash, whose base is Bateau Bay, 51 km south, washes houses and cleans roofs in Killingworth.

How should Killingworth's timber colliery houses be washed?
Caledonian Collieries bought the unworked shafts in 1895 and began producing coal in 1897; the mine was renamed West Wallsend Extended Colliery around 1915. A gas explosion in 1910 stopped work until August 1911. A brick kiln and a sawmill joined the colliery, and a wagon repair shop ran from 1924 to 1961.
The 2021 count found nothing but separate houses among occupied homes, and more than half (55.5%) had at least four bedrooms. Old weatherboards and painted timber get a gentle wash with cleaning solution so the paint and grain are not torn up, and roofs a soft wash.
