What suits Carey Bay's mix of houses, villas and units?

The name began as Cary Bay, describing only the bay itself; that spelling was gazetted in 1973, but the suburb was gazetted as Carey Bay in 1991 when its boundaries were set, and the council adopted that name in 2001. Dewey Point, at the north-eastern corner, marks the boundary with Toronto.

It has more attached homes than most lake suburbs: in 2021, 68.7% of occupied dwellings were separate houses, 16.0% townhouses or semi-detached and 10.1% flats. In strata buildings, NSW law gives the owners corporation the job of maintaining common property.
