What do Coal Point's established waterfront homes need?
The first mine was run by the Reverend Lancelot Threlkeld, missionary to the Awabakal people and the first European landholder of the Coal Point to Toronto area, and the explorer Ludwig Leichhardt visited it in 1842. In 1887 the Excelsior Land Investment and Building Company subdivided the Toronto Estate, which took in the lake's waterfront reserve; five reserves were made on the point in return.
Locals formed the Coal Point Progress Association in 1946 and built Progress Hall, one of the last community-owned halls in Lake Macquarie. Separate houses were 99.2% of occupied homes in 2021 and 51.2% had four or more bedrooms. Big tiled roofs take a roof soft wash, and walls a house wash at low pressure.
