House washing for terraces and units in Newcastle East

How do Newcastle East's terraces and units stand up to sea air?

Fort Scratchley, built between 1881 and 1886 on a knoll above Nobbys Beach, now houses the Newcastle Region Maritime and Military Museum, and the Newcastle Ocean Baths lie between the two beaches. In June 2007 the bulk carrier Pasha Bulker ran aground off Nobbys Beach in a storm. Flats made up 51.6% of homes in 2021, terraces and other attached dwellings 37.5%, and separate houses just 8.5%.

With two surf beaches on the doorstep, salt settles on every wall. COLORBOND's advice for coastal spots is to rinse the sheltered parts of steel, like eave undersides, more often than its six-monthly minimum, and a gentle house wash does that for terrace fronts and render too. For unit blocks run as strata, the owners corporation answers for common property, so shared paths and stairs are pressure washed when it books them.
